Objectives
The Zoo de Granby is the most significant zoological garden in Québec (Canada), with trails allowing visitors to observe over 1 500 animals from about 225 exotic species, several of which are part of a species survival plan (SSP). The Zoo de Granby is one of only six institutions in Canada to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is also accredited by Canada's Accredited Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The hospital staff is composed of two veterinarians and two veterinary technicians. A digital x-ray machine, an ultrasound and elaborate endoscopy equipment are available on site while the proximity of the zoo with the Faculté de Médecine Vétérinaire of the Université de Montréal allows for a close collaboration in peculiar cases management as well as advanced medical and surgical procedures.
Although student housing is ot directly available through the zoo, we can provide contact information of people (generally zoo staff) that are available to host externs.
