Description of Elective Experience

Potential experiences includes animal capture by physical and chemical means, field assistance to biologists and managers, biological sampling of
animals, sample logistics and preparation, necropsy, data analysis, general office work - reports, data analysis and presentation of data and summaries.

 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Necropsy facility, capture supplies, animal handling supplies, minimal laboratory equipment, access to UI veterinary facility and library

Educational Resources Available:

varies - several universities in area, vet school in Pullman, WA

One veterinarian, one forensic scientist, one wildlife disease biologist, one wildlife technican

 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Participation in field activities, necropsies, animal care and sampling as appropriate. Project to be completed during time spent at WHL

Student Supervision: 8 hours per day, 40-60 hrs per week

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info)

Possibly at the hatchery domitory located on the Eagle campus, depending on agency needs.  Free to nominal cost.  No pets allowed
