Description of Elective Experience

Students can gain experience in emergency medicine, general practice, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, reproduction, and business/practice management. We have 18+ doctors to learn from, and the elective can be as hands-on as the student would like. We are a 24/7 practice, with a high caseload and practice high quality medicine. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, dental radiography, separate surgical suites and dental tables, ICU with oxygen cages, in house laboratory, pharmacy. 100 employees, 20 practicing veterinarians (22 total). 16,000 sq foot facility. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students will be paired with a doctor and have the ability to rotate through all of our departments, or focus on their special interest(s). They will be scheduled 40 hours and have the opportunity to take on case management with supervision, perform surgeries and other procedures and practice skills such as blood draws, IV catheter placement, physical exams, cystocentesis, ultrasonography, etc.
