Description of Elective Experience

The Waynesboro Veterinary Clinic is looking for a veterinary student to shadow our team of 6 veterinary associates to supplement their educational experience. This internship is for a period of 2 - 3 weeks. The veterinary student will work hand-in-hand with our 6 associates to observe and assist with multiple clinical cases.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Staffing - 6 veterinarians - 6 certified veterinary technicians - 3 veterinary assistants - 6 client specialists - 1 practice manager Equipment - Ultrasound - Echocardiogram - Digital Radiology - Endoscopy - Cryoprobe - In house / reference laboratory - Soft tissue surgery - Orthopedic surgery About the Hospital - AHAA Accredited - Hours of operation: 8am to 6pm M, T, Th, F; 8am to 8pm W; 9am to 12pm Sat; Closed Sun

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Student will be asked to shadow associates and assist with surgical procedures. Student is expected to work up their own treatment plans for seen cases and consult/compare with the overseeing doctor’s treatment plan.

Student will be asked to work a duration of 2 - 3 weeks Monday - Saturday.
