Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students will be assigned to a DVM to shadow throughout the day. This may include helping to obtain vitals and a history on cases and discussing exam findings, diagnostic plan, and treatment plan with the veterinarian. Students may also be asked to assist in the restraint of patients, drawing blood, placement of IV catheters, and administration of medications.

Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital is a 24/7 emergency facility, so shifts will vary throughout the day.  Typically, we offer a variety of shift times to expose the students to different types of appointments and patient care.  Students are provided a 40 hrs/wk in a 5-day work week schedule.
