Student will be exposed to and allowed assistance with all levels of specialty reproductive program involving equine primarily and bovine secondarily, including routine breeding management, semen assessments, conformation and ultrasound evaluations, cytologies, uterine culture interpretation and treatment management and other aspects of breeding soundness exams, in vivo and in vitro embryo production and transfers, problem mare management and pregnancy monitoring. Additionally, student may be involved with bovine in vitro embryo production including ovum pick up and IVF. Dairy herd pregnancy checks with student ultrasound observations may also be involved. Opportunities may also involve the establishment of a bacterial culture system.
Opportunities exist for multiple site (ambulatory work) and herd management. Another board certified vet on staff as well as 1 full time and 4 part time assistants.
2 ultrasounds and ovum pick up equipment systems are in house and a fully equipped in vitro laboratory is part of the practice.
Practice is almost solely focused on reproduction specialty with no general medicine involved.
Student is voluntarily present for all procedures and management approximately minimum of 40hrs / week. Assistance when needed.
