Description of Elective Experience

We are a mixed animal practice located in southwest Minnesota focused primarily on food animal. We provide traditional veterinary services along with consultation and production medicine for swine, dairy and feedlot producers. We have species specific veterinarians that practice in multiple states in the upper midwest.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We have 16 veterinary staff in 4 locations with 12 veterinary technicians and admin staff. We employ 70 staff throughout the organization. We have access to ultrasound equipment, digital radiology, in house serology equipment and have a sister company that provides diagnostic laboratory services for isolation of pathogens as well as serology and metagenomic sequencing.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Expectation is to be at the clinic during working hours of Monday to Friday from 8 to 5. We also work Saturdays until noon. Student is allowed to go on night calls with the veterinary staff if they desire. we expect students to be engaged, interested and enthusiastic about veterinary medicine during the internship.
