Description of Elective Experience

Exposure to AAHA small animal practice with many routine and urgent cases. The DVMs practice high quality medicine with thorough workups and diagnostics. We would expect the student to contribute to history taking, some communication with clients, review of lab work, X-rays and ultrasound findings, developing differential diagnoses as well as treatment plans. Students will have exposure to soft tissue surgeries, which may include spay, neuter, cystotomies, growth removals. We do a large amount of dental cleanings with oral surgery. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We have 6 DVMs, access to surrounding ER, critical care and specialists in three referral hospitals. Digital X-ray, digital dental X-ray unit, new ultrasound machine, VetSoap ai record taking utilized as well as veterinary assistant and or scribe.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students are expected to arrive promptly at 8 am, we close most days at 5 but DVMs wrap up medical records and phone calls after shifts. Days would be Mon through Friday.
