Verden Veterinary Clinic, OK

Description of Elective Experience

I hope a Ohio State University veterinary student can bring knowledge to my practice.  I also hope it is a learning experience for any .  I hope a Ohio State University veterinary student finds that we have a lot of knowledge here at the clinic and it will assist any student in becoming a great large animal veterinarian in the future.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Verden Veterinary Clinic has 5 veterinarians.  We are a busy mixed, primarily large animal practice.  We try and make decisions based on data and facts.  The clinic is equipped with 1 hydraulic chute and alleyway, 1 manual chute, and 1 calf table.  The clinic has an ultrasound machine, digital radiography, AVI Mark computer software as well as other technology to practice veterinary medicine.  The clinic also has a referral lab that performs PI-BVD testing and blood pregnancy testing.  The clinic has great support staff that have all been here several years and are willing to help.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

I would hope a Ohio State University veterinary student  would work when the clinic is open (M-F 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM and Sat. 8:00 AM to Noon) and assist in taking emergency at other hours.  I would hope that a veterinary student would be a hands on person, in that they would want to engage in the practice of veterinary medicine and we could stand by and assist and teach every veterinary student.
