Description of Elective Experience

Student will work in a 24 hour ER/Specialty hospital.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Internist, Surgeons, oncology, Neurologist, Cardiologist, Dermatologist, Critical Care, ER doctors, Interns, Technichians, Assistants.

Scopes, CT, MRI, Radiology and Ultrasound.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The student will be working with our doctors and we always rotate them though the different deparments so they can be expouse to different areas of our profession. They are here 40 hours a weeks. We also divide their time(2 weeks ) between VCAVREC and VCA Shoreline. They will participate in rounds in the morning and in our teaching rounds. They will go to the appointments and listening to the doctor in charge and he/she will be discussing the case with the doctor and doing the physical exam. They will decide the plan for that patient and discuss it with the owner in the room.
