Description of Elective Experience

Primary care small animal externship focused on routine wellness, preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, wound care, and outpatient medical management. Students will work directly with our primary care veterinarian to gain hands-on clinical experience in general practice settings.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

1 Doctor practice, supported by 4 veterinary assistants and 2 receptionists. Diagnostic equipment includes an in-house ultrasound machine.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Hospital is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (up to 40 hours/week). Students will participate in physical exams, outpatient consultations, case management, and work directly alongside the supervising veterinarian.
