Description of Elective Experience

Student participates in field station activities (necropsies, lab investigations).  As time allows, student is encouraged to take on small individual project to learn research techniques.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Fully equiped necropsy facility, lab with various equipment (ELISA plate reader, PCR machine, chromatography, pathology, immunohistochemistry, cytology, microscopy).  Student expected to interact with PI and two technicians.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Student expected to be engaged and contributing meaningfully to whatever activities are ongoing at the time.  Independence and initiative are prized attributes as are abilites to interact with HFS staff in a constructive manner.  Student expected to think on their feet.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info)

Housing provided at cost of $150/week with laundry/bathroom/kitchen.  No overnight guests or pets allowed.
