Description of Elective Experience

Participation in the daily necropsy service including, but not limited to:

Working up cases based on history; performing gross necropsy; writing gross necropsy reports; reviewing microscopic findings.  Annual lab caseload 3000 necropsies. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

7 full time anatomic pathologists, greater than 6 necropsy technicians. Working diagnostic laboratory with AALVD accreditation.  Pathology library with resources on site. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Work day 8-5 Monday-Friday.  Student will be supervised by pathologist/residents while on the necropsy floor.
