Description of Elective Experience

Student will accompany veterinarians on ambulatory routine and emergency calls to treat horses, cows, and other farm animals. Student will receive instruction and practice performing clinical skills in accordance with comfort and ability. Student will also be exposed to / assist with bill writing, client communications, lab work, and inventory management.

Digital radiography, ultrasound, shock wave, power floats, Truforma blood machine

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Student will be required to ride with vets Monday - Friday, for approximately 8-10 hours per day. Weekend and emergency opportunities are also available if student would like to participate. Student will be the main assistant / support person at each call as we do not have other support staff in the field. They will not be required to do anything they are not comfortable with.
