Description of Elective Experience

We are a small animal, general practice veterinary clinic providing comprehensive medical and surgical care. Our practice regularly performs orthopedic procedures several days each week and offers daily soft tissue surgeries and dental services. We actively collaborate with our local Humane Society and regional rescue organizations, providing medical and surgical support for special and situational cases.

Our team is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and fostering meaningful, hands-on learning experiences, creating an ideal environment for veterinary students seeking a well-rounded externship. Our practice is supported by five experienced veterinarians, including a dedicated orthopedic surgeon. Our staff works collaboratively across departments, promoting a supportive and engaging learning culture. We utilize IDEXX diagnostic services and in-house technology to ensure timely, accurate clinical decision-making.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Our clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Externship students are encouraged to actively participate in patient care by assisting staff and veterinarians during normal business hours, under appropriate supervision. Our dedicated orthopedic surgeon is on-site three days per week, providing students with exposure to advanced surgical cases.
