Springhill Equine Veterinary Clinic, FL

Description of Elective Experience

We are a general, mixed animal practice with 24/7 emergency coverage for large animals. Our goal is to get externs as hands on as we can during their time with us.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We have 4 veterinarians, one with a DACVS, 6 technicians, 3 clinic staff, and a clinic cat. We are outfitted with portable radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy, and in-clinic blood work, surgery (small animal), and hospitalization.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students are expected to assist with patient treatments, and to practice being the Doctor during appointments. Additionally, we try to bring students on after hour emergencies to help gain experience in both the medical, and life-balance components of being on call.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info)

Current cost (6/2024) is $225/week for an efficiency apartment with washer/dryer/fridge/stove/microwave. Everything you need to feed, bathe, and sleep
