Description of Elective Experience

The student will be treating hospitalized animals as well as outpatient. We are a very busy hospital and see approximately 80 to 100 patients daily. We usually have four doctors every single day working so the student will have interaction with many different doctors. We also have specialist that come to our hospital Three days a week. We have cardiology internal medicine and a critical care. We have ultrasound available and Dr. Richter, the owner of the practice does many surgeries, including spinal knees any soft tissue as he has been practicing for 40+ years. The student will be exposed to many different cases while in our hospital.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We have seven doctors on staff with three specialist that come weekly including a cardiologist and internal medicine specialist and a critical care specialist we offer ultrasound we offer surgeries, general medicine hospitalization and of course the daily ear infection, infections, skin, allergies, etc.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The student will shadow one of our doctors daily. We expect the student to be here 40 hours a week and during that time he or she will get lots of experience in inpatient and outpatient work along with surgery in case management.
