Description of Elective Experience

Our practice offers a wide variety of experiences for a student.  We work on Thoroughbred race horses at Thistledown and Mahoning Valley Racetracks as well as have an extensive farm practice.  Our farm practice encompasses everything from miniature ponies to draft horses.  We are back yard pets, show horses, driving horses and work horses.  In addition to our daily workload, we also offer emergency services after hours.  Our practice is entirely mobile.   Students get a wide range of exposure and experiences.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Staffing-each doctor has 1-2 assistants during the day

Equipment -digital radiography, upper airway endoscopy, ultrasound

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The students participation level is based on their comfort.  They can be with us as much as they like.  Our hours start early at the racetrack and can run late with emergencies.  They are not obligated to go on after hours emergencies.  We work 7 days a week and can be flexible with the days the students want to attend.
