We welcome students to gain experience in general practice. Our hospital offers wellness, urgent care, and general surgery.
We have one main practitioner with two supporting relief veterinarians at the moment and are looking to expand. We have 6 additional supporting staff members in the facility. We host the local tech Highschool veterinary assistant program students. We have in house lab work, digital dental and radiographs.
We would enjoy hosting a student for approximately 36-39 hours a week- student would get to shadow veterinarians in rooms and surgery. A goal would be to work with student on getting more comfortable going into rooms and examining pets and discussing findings with veterinarian and help plan treatments based on student confidence level. They would have the opportunity to scrub in on surgery days with veterinarians on routine procedures such as spay, neuter, gastropexy, mass removals and dentals. Student would get significant one on one time with veterinarian in 30 minute consults.
