Description of Elective Experience

The hospital is a full service small animal hospital which will provide the student with hands on learning in surgery, dentistry, internal medicine and preventive care.  The student will work one on one with veterinarian to facilitate their transition in to a private practice setting

The hospital is equipped with a full surgical suite and a separate dental suite, digital radiography, ultrasound, tonometry and a full pharmacy.  They will work with the one veterinarian on staff along with 2 registered technicians, and 3 other full time support staff.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The student will work Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm with a 30 minute lunch.  They will be expected to assist in surgery and with any procedures that are taking place as well as directly shadowing for medical and preventative medical cases.

There is small apartment attached to the hospital that they may use if they wish free of charge and pet friendly
