Pursuit Veterinary Services, FL

Description of Elective Experience

We are a large animal practice with a focus on cattle and equine. We do see some small ruminants and swine primarily for the FFA/4-H students. The work varies based on time of year: Fall/winter is heavy with beef herd work (BSEs and Pregnancy checks) while the spring/summer has more equine work (repro, dentistry, annuals, etc).

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We are a single veterinarian practice. We offer advanced imaging for both cattle and equine - ultrasound/radiographs.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Simply ask students to have a good attitude with an eagerness to learn. Daily hours can vary quite a bit but most days start around 8 am and finish around 5 pm (Monday- Friday). Weekends are emergency only except for some Saturdays in busy season of the fall.
