Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Our state-of-the-art facility has 15 exam rooms, a large central ICU, 5 ORs, MRI, CT, two digital radiology suites, and multiple ultrasounds for POCUS. Our facility was designed from a Fear Free perspective and Fear Free principles factor heavily in our work flow.

Our current team consists of 15+ experienced Emergency doctors (many with 10+ years of experience), 2 Criticalists, 3 Internists, 3 Surgeons, an in-house full-time Radiologist, a Neurologist, a Cardiologist, an Oncologist, and 2 Ophthalmologists. Our culture is collegial, collaborative, respectful, and fun, evidenced by our high retention of emergency doctors, specialists, and support staff.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students are welcome to a flexible schedule with the ER department. Specialty externships will match the schedule of the specialist. The experience is primarily shadowing with our veterinarians, with potential opportunities for client communication, hands-on animal handling and examination, and nursing support/tasks as appropriate.
