Description of Elective Experience

We are a small animal GP who sees Exotics, dogs, and cats.  We do a lot of soft tissue surgery as well as orthopedic procedures.  We also do a large number of dental procedures. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

2 full time doctors and a part time doctor.  We currently have 3 LVTs as well as several tech students.  We have digital dental and digital xray.   We also have ultrasound and laser.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The student will follow my schedule which is Monday, Wednesday,  Thursday,  and Friday as well as every other Saturday.   Our hours are 9 to 6 Monday to Friday and 9 to 1 Saturday. I see appointments in the morning and the student will follow me in the beginning and once comfortable will see appointments with me following them.  I then do surgery and will have the student assistant.  The afternoon is filled with appointments.
