The student will be exposed to a general and emergency practice experience. We expect the student to jump in and assist everything from taking a complete history to assisting in surgery. During the Summer season it is not uncommon to have 20-30 emergency cases in a 24 hour period in addition to wellness and medical cases. The overnight shift is just as busy as the day shift and the student will alternate between shifts while they are here.
12 hour shifts (8am-8pm or 8pm-8am), 5-6 days per week
Help the student gain proficiency in skills related, but not limited, to: history taking, physical exam, venipuncture, ultrasound and radiograph interpretation, hematology, cytology, interpretation of bloodwork, creating a multi-tiered diagnostic and treatment plan for varying degrees of financial capability, critical care regimens, nutrition advice, and surgical assist.
Housing is a possibility. Prior to accepting a position with us we can discuss it with the perspective student.
