Description of Elective Experience

Follow DVM and RVTs through physical exam, anesthesia, monitoring, and dental procedures at a general practice working with cats and dogs.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

RVT & vet assistant, in house lab equipment, dental radiographs, general anesthesia, surgical equipment, access to VIN, dental education prior provided by Heartland & OSU.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

8:30am - finish, end of day is 5:30pm. No on-call times.

Monday-Friday. 

Expected for student to participate in all aspects of dental procedure, physical exam of patient, grading of teeth, evaluate labs, evaluate radiographs, sealing and polishing, extractions, dental blocks, medications to go home, etc.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info)

Tru by Hilton - $75/pet deposit. 50# weight limit, 2 pet max, $50 pet fee for 1-4 night stay

Fort Harrison Inn - $25/night pet fee. 75# weight limit, 2pet max.
