NKC Veterinary Services, LLC, NE

Description of Elective Experience

We offer a broad spectrum of clinical experience in both small and large animal medicine and surgery.  We can focus the rotation on the area in which the student is interested.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We have 4 veterinarians with approximately 10 technicians/support staff.  Our large animal haul-in facility includes an indoor tip chute and OB area with outside pens to hold approximately 50 cows.  We have two portable hydraulic chutes for herd work and multiple ultrasound machines for preg checking.  We have a fully equipped small animal facility that includes digital radiography, ultrasound and a complete line of bloodwork machines.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

We operate Monday through Saturday while maintaining a 24 hour large and small animal emergency service.  The student is expected to be here during working hours.  We do include the student on emergencies (nights and weekends) whenever possible.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info)

We put the student in a hotel just a few blocks from the clinic at our expense.  The student may need to get lunch and supper on their own.
