Mt. Pleasant Animal Hospital, OH

Description of Elective Experience

We are a busy four doctor general practice that has been open for over 50 years.  We have 4 full time technicians, a fantastic support staff and a loyal client base.  We invite you to come experience the daily workings of our hospital.  We do surgery five days a week and perform almost every orthopedic and soft tissue surgery in-house (the rare back surgery is typically sent to a referral hospital).  We encourage students, soon-to-be-doctors, to be involved with each and every case - this includes dialogue with the doctors and hands on experience.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Digital x-ray. Ultrasound. Advanced dental unit and digital dental radiography. Endoscope. Video otoscope. And more.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

We can be pretty flexible with scheduling.  We are open 7:30am - 8:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays; 7:30am - 6:30pm Wednesdays and Thursdays; and 7:30am-2:00pm on Saturdays; closed on Sundays.  We do have after hours on call service that you could choose to be a part of if you wish.  We expect a student to want to learn and want to experience the practice, but have no set requirements for hours/days.  A student that puts in a typical work week (40 hours give or take) would be expected.
