Description of Elective Experience

Student shadows our veterinarians, participates in surgeries, treatments, interacting with clients, gaining experience in all areas, small animal, horse room, and cow room. Assists in after hours calls and farm calls. With the aid of our veterinarians, they are allowed to determine courses of treatment.

Xray, ultrasound, laser therapy, sound wave therapy, surgical room, ekg

3 veterinarians full time

Orthopedic surgeries, colic surgeries

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

40 hours per week (can do more if student wants to)

Monday-Friday, also after hours on weekends and weeknights

Will always have the aid of one of our veterinarians to help determine diagnosis and treatments

Allowed to perform spays and neuters while being shadowed by one of our veterinarians

Shadow in other surgeries, (ex laps, orthopedic surgeries, splenectomy, colic surgeries, hernia repair, castrations, etc)
