Description of Elective Experience

The student will rotate with the dentistry service for two consecutive weeks. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

25,000 square foot facility.  We are a 24 hour specialty and emergency hospital.  We offer the following disciplines: arthroscopy, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, emergency, internal medicine, interventional radiology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiology (including CT, MRI, and I-131), and surgery. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The student will spend 40 hours per week (or more) on the dentistry service.  The student will see appointments with the dentist and dentistry nurse and will participate in procedures, incluing dental prophylaxis and X-ray technique.  The dental service operates Tues-Fri one week and Wed- Sat the following week.  Any week days that the dental service is not in operation, the student may rotate on a different service as a student shadow.
