Description of Elective Experience

Medvet New Albany is an ER clinic where emergency surgeries are performed.   4th year veterinary students will be paired with a clinician and able to follow them into rooms to hear client conversations, assist in diagnostics and surgeries, discuss problem lists, diagnostics, and treatment plans.  

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Surgery equipment, tonopen, tonovet, in house bloodwork, blood, plasma, and intralipid transfusion capabilities, endoscope

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Ask questions and bring your knowledge.  Typically will shadow for 10 hours or so 4 times a week (weekends and evenings included)
