Legacy Veterinary Solutions is privately owned and provides compassionate, high-quality care to a diverse patient population including cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, dogs, and cats. We are truly mixed with about half large animal and half small animal patient distribution. Our services include preventative health care, vaccinations, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and bovine reproduction with Boviteq.
We have two full-time DVMs, three highly experienced full-time RVTs, one RVT/practice manager and one veterinary assistant. Four of our team members are OSU alumni!
We have a start-of-the-art small animal facility equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, and in-house blood analyzers. We have a surgery suite, dental suite, radiography suite, pharmacy, large treatment area, and four exam rooms. This year we have upgraded to a brand-new dental machine, Nikon microscope, Tonometer, cautery, suction, and anesthesia monitoring systems. We are awaiting installation of a brand-new dental x-ray and full body x-ray system.
We also have a large animal facility, equipped with chutes for cattle. The facility is heated in the winter. We are also ambulatory with the vet truck for treating patients in the field.
Students should expect to work a full-time schedule, typically Monday-Friday 8-5. Our large animal veterinarian is on-call for large animal emergencies and students could join for any calls if wanted. Students will participate in routine wellness visits, sick appointments, and urgent care cases. Students may assist with obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, and developing diagnostic and treatment plans under the guidance of the veterinarian. They will also gain experience interpreting laboratory results and understanding how diagnostics influence clinical decision-making. They will be encouraged to communicate with clients on their findings and treatment plans.
Students will have the opportunity to observe, assist with, and potentially perform surgical procedures including spays, neuters, and other soft tissue surgeries depending on their level of training and comfort. Emphasis is placed on surgical preparation, anesthesia protocols, and perioperative care.
