Description of Elective Experience

Student will be visiting a progressive veterinary clinic with direct supervision of Michelle Bryan DVM or Melissa Long DVM. Student will be able to perform soft tissue surgeries, dental prophylaxis and extractions, local blocks and mass removals. Student will also see exam room and drop off appointments (with a DVM) take history perform physical exam, perform diagnostics (including ultrasound) and create a treatment plan under direct supervision. Our facility offers canine rehabilitation and therapy services including cold laser, land exercises and underwater treadmill. We see cats, dogs, and pocket pets with fur. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We have registered technicians and nurses as well as CSRs and CCRA. We have in house radiology, dental radiology, in house IDEXX lab,  High speed IM3 dental equipment, Vet Tome, ultrasound, underwater treadmill and cold laser. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Monday through Friday 8:00-6:00

Perform full duties under direct supervision of a veterinarian as allowed by NC law.
