A HOPE Spay and Neuter Clinic, FL

Description of Elective Experience

Students will have the ability to perform soft tissue surgeries; the majority of these being spays and neuters on small animal species, but may include additional surgeries as needed including mass removals, enucleations, laceration repairs, and cryptorchid procedures. For spay and neuter surgeries, students will be trained in high volume, high quality spay and neuter techniques per the ASPCA Humane Alliance protocols. Students will also have the ability to learn hands-on management of a community cat program.  Ultimately, once equipped, the clinic will also be set up to perform dental cleanings and extractions. Basic wellness and preventative care will also be provided to community animals, which may include vaccinations, deworming, microchips, and parasite screening.
