Description of Elective Experience

Busy small animal general practice with a wide range of diagnostics available, skill sets, as well as capabilities for surgical intervention if/when necessary. Preventative medicine along with many daily "sick pet" appointments often times in need of extensive work ups. Housecalls are also an option for many multi-pet households or those pets who do not travel well. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Single full time DVM as well as a relief DVM available at all times, well educated and exceptionally experience LVTs + veterinary assistants as well as a multitude of diagnostic capabilities including: digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, surgical suite, Class IV laser, IDXX cbc/chem machines, incubator (urine cultures primarily) as well as an extensive library for references. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Monday - Friday 

7:45am - 530pm (1 hour lunch break)

Will be shadowing Dr. Perron for daily appointments while personally assisting in all surgical cases (Tuesdays and fit ins if necessary). Have many opportunities for venipuncture, catheter placement, cytocentesis/abdominocentesis, radiograph interpretation and consulting on diagnostics with guided assistance.
