Students will be involved in every aspect of the hospital. They will shadow in exam rooms, and assist with the actual exams. They will be allowed to assist in performing surgeries under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Students will also have responsibilities in laser, ultrasound, dental, and radiology.
We have eight veterinarians on staff and over 40 healthcare members including licensed technicians, veterinary assistants, receptionists, and office personnel. Our hospital includes a large surgery suite, ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, a critical care unit, oxygen cages, pharmacy, and separate dog and cat rooms. we perform chemotherapy, soft-tissue, orthopedic, and laser surgeries. We also have a Class IV therapy laser for treating patients with arthritis, pain management, and post-op recovery.
We are open Monday through Friday 7am to 5:30pm, and Saturday 7am to 1pm. Generally, students work the weekday shifts 7:30--5:30. If a weekday off is preferred, student can work Saturday. We expect a minimum of 40 hours each week. Student will have the opportunity to work with eight different veterinarians, and be involved in several different specialties.
