Description of Elective Experience

Externs will observe a high quality general practice treating small animal patients. Externship will follow an attending veterinarian, observe interaction with clients and patients. Diagnostic and treatment plans. Externs will also have the ability to perform examinations, diagnostics and surgeries on shelter animals under the supervision of a staff veterinarian. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We are a fully staffed small animal practice with digital radiology, dental radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy, and a surgery suite equipped to perform advanced soft tissue surgery, as well as certain orthopedic surgeries.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Clinic hours are 9am-7pm Mon-Fri and 9am-1pm on Saturday. Externs will be expected to work a 40 hour week and schedules can be flexible to accommodate as needed.
