Description of Elective Experience

The student will be shadowing the doctors on wellness and sick patient appointments, go through case work up from beginning to end as well as treatments options and how to work with clients of various financial backgrounds and need. We will also set up surgical opportunities for spay, neuter and dentals with our rescues. We will have case rounds to help students better under stand cases seen in the hospital to reiterate the experience gained from this externship.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We have an Internist/Oncologist on staff to review and discuss cases with students. We have state of the art imaging with digital whole body and dental radiographs as well as ultrasound with doctors who specialize in abdominal ultrasounds and echocardiograms.  We also have a rehab facility with laser therapy, acupuncture, water treadmill and land treadmill. We have CO2 laser therapy along with electrocautery. We also have full in house bloodwork and urinalysis along cytology available. We have a fantastic, knowledgable technicial staff with a 2-3 tech to doctor ratio who are very hands ons with patients and clients which allow our students and doctors to focus on case work as well as help students gain professional skills.
