Greenfield Veterinary Clinic is a two doctor practice in rural, south central, Ohio. Students will spend time heavily immersed in a hands-on experience within our practice. Whether it’s out on the farm or in the clinic, we offer students to do as much as they’d like and we can permit. Located just 1 hour south of Columbus, we service Highland, Ross, Fayette, Adams, Brown, Clinton, Scioto and Pike counties. Our small animal facility is a true rural practice, and we provide many services to our clients including surgery, send out bloodwork and preventive / annual care. Surgery days vary from two to three days a week. Our small animal side is open Saturday also from 8:30-11am. Our large animal side of things is variable depending on the season, heaviest in fall, winter and spring. We service the Union Stockyards in Hillsboro, OH, where we run a weekly sale. Feeder sales here range from monthly to weekly, as bred cow sales run monthly to bi-weekly. Students will be exposed to a variety of practices including pregnancy checks via ultrasound (hands-free probe also), fetal sexing and staging, castrations, vaccinations, herd health management, surgeries and emergencies. Equine, swine and small ruminant work make up a lesser part of our large animal practice. We offer limited small animals emergency services to clients and non-clients.
Housing is available.
Students are expected to simply show up and participate. There may be some very long days, season dependent.
Emergencies after hours are optional, but highly recommended.
