We at Fairfield Animal Hospital try to live by these values every day. We strive to always put every patient’s needs first. Students will be paired with a licensed veterinarian at all times.
Staffing: Our staff consists of 3 veterinarians, 7 registered veterinary assistants, 6 assistants, and 2 receptionists.
Equipment: digital ultrasound, digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, MIdmark Dental drill and ultrasonic cleaner, surgery suit with ventilators, anesthetic monitoring equipment and electrocautery.
In-house Laboratory Equipment: Sedivue Dx Urine Sediment Analyzer, VetLab UA Analyzer, Catalyst One Chemistry Analyzer, Snap Pro Analyzer, ProCyte One Hematology Analyzer, Microhematocrit spinner for in house PCV's/TP, in house microscope for in house blood smears, ear cytologies, fecals, and fine needle aspirates
The student’s schedule is based on our hours of operation. We are open Monday thru Thursday 8am - 7pm, and Friday 8am - 4pm. We provide a flexible schedule for students and will work with them to meet their elective requirements as well as their personal needs.
Students will be expected to work with veterinarians on their caseload. Students will be given opportunities to perform procedures and techniques to their comfort level throughout their elective experience. They will be given opportunities to evaluate a patient and work through the diagnostic care and treatment plan with the support of a veterinarian.
Surgical procedures include: Spay, neuters, TPLOs, soft tissue procedures including cystotomies, abdominal exploratories, mass removals, PU Surgeries, entropions/ectropians, surgical rhinoplasty - stenotic nares repair, soft palate resections, cherry eye surgery, dewclaw removal, enucleations, gastropexy, fracture repairs, wound/laceration repairs, amputations, hernia repairs, c-sections, splenectomies, hematoma repair.
