Description of Elective Experience

Student will be able to develop skills in diagnostics and treatment of ocular conditions.

Develop understanding of veterinary ophthalmology.

Student will develop skills needed to use  opthalmic exam equipment such as slit lamp and direct otpahlmoscope by working along side DACVO and second year opthalmology resident ..

This elective experince will offer some insight into the realities of working in specialized field of veterinary opthalmology. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

This is a one doctor practice with a resident, 5 technicians, 2 CSRs , an assistant.

Equipped with 2 surgery suits, 5 exam rooms, specialized surgical euquipment (such as phacoemulsificator and Endophotocoagulation /Diode laser) . 

 

 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

We are Monday-Friday 8-5 .  Student will be mostly shadowing, occasionally asked to perform light duties such as some computer eteries during exam, assistance with diagnostics such as tonometry and /or possibly assisting technicians and resident doctor as needed with surgical cases.
