Equine Medicine and Surgery is an 100 % equine practice specializing in racetrack medicine. Students will be exposed to a wide array of clinical cases with an emphasis on lameness and respiratory issues. Students will have an opportunity to observe and participate in lameness exams as well as diagnostic radiographs and ultrasound. Endoscopic exams are also a large part of our practice and students will be assisting in and diagnosing upper airway issues such as DDSP and entrapped epiglottis as well as lower airway EIPH and inflammation.
Equine Medicine and Surgery is an eleven person equine practice specializing in racetrack medicine. Our veterinarians average over 20 year’s experience. We also have a full staff of technicians with similar experience. We are also equipped with modern digital radiographic equipment and ultrasound.
Students will be asked to dress and act in a professional manner. Work days usually start 7:00 am six days a week and continue until the all the work for the day is completed.
Students will be allowed under direct supervision to perform some task such as venipuncture, shot administering and some radiographs. The willingness and ability of the student will dictate what he or she will be able to do hands on.
