Description of Elective Experience

Will have opportunity to see high volume equine reproduction practice. Will learn options for managing mares that are here for breed to carry, embryo transfer, ICSI, and recipient mares. Will have the opportunity to watch oocyte aspirations and the searching of dominant and immature oocytes. Will be able to see the vitrification of embryos, transfer of frozen/thawed and fresh embryos, as well as the ICSI procedure. May have the opportunity to ride with our ambulatory veterinarians

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students will mostly have the opportunity to shadow and watch the procedures that we perform. We ask that they are here Monday - Friday for our work day from about 7:30am until about 4 or 5pm. We do not ask anything of them over the weekend.

We do not offer housing but can provide hotel information of nearby hotels
