Description of Elective Experience

The student will be shadowing veterinarians at a mixed animal private practice in rural West Virginia.  Hands on experience will be determained by the competency of the student. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

This is a 2 veterinarian practice with 12 support staff members.  The student will have the opportunity to enhance both clinical and surgical skills; in addition, to utilizing radiology, laboratory and ultrasound equipment.

 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The student will be expected to be present during business hours:  Monday-Friday 8-6 and saturday 8-2.  We offer emergency services for clients and encourage students to be available for emergencies, but do not require it.   Based on the students confidence/competency, the student will shadow the veterinarian, but will have opportunity to improve clinical and surgical skills.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info)

The student will be provide housing at no charge to the student.  No pets allowed.
