Description of Elective Experience

The elective includes shadowing, paperwork, rounds for prep and follow up of appointments and taking the lead on student led community appointments with supervision and guidance (Entrustable Professional Activities)

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We are a full service behavior clinical that is set up for veterinary medical as well as behavioral care including access to lab testing and imaging and referral to other services. We are staffed by a board-certified veterinary behaviorist and a CVT VTS technician and trainer.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

The clinic runs from 8:30am until 3:30pm M-F. There are no weekend or overnight duties. Students are expected to write SOAPs and first drafts of discharge instructions (recheck appointments only). Students also take the lead in Cummings community appointments (with our support and supervision) and in appointments at our community veterinary clinic, again with support and supervision.
