Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine - Quality Milk Production Services, NY

Description of Elective Experience
  1. Time will be spent shadowing veterinarians and technicians on farm as milk quality investigations are performed, milk quality meetings are
  2. One-on-one time will be spent with veterinarians reviewing reports, data analysis and diagnostics
  3. One-on-one time will be spent in the microbiology lab learning about specific mastitis pathogens and methods of detection/diagnostics
  4. Time will be spent shadowing veterinarians as they teach students, technicians, and farmers about milk quality topics
  5. +/- participating in bovine anatomy laboratories (if udder dissection is the topic on that date)  
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Mixed hours (M-F), with no weekend hours. No expectations for support, just shadowing, though I anticipate obtaining some dairy data and having her work independently on what she has learned (applying knowledge).
