Student will be joining the veterinary team of the Copper Basin 300 sled dog race (https://www.cb300.com/) for the entirety of the 2026 race. They will perform pre-race veterinary exams with the team (who will collectively examine about 430 dogs) and will be on call for the entirety of the 72-hour long race to triage and treat injuries during the race. I am the head vet of this race and work for the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Student will be on the trail of the race with the vet team and will not be on the UAF campus. The race will provide housing during the race and veterinary supplies are owned by the race.
Student is expected to be present during the entirety of pre race vet checks on 1/9/2026 and will then be on call from 8 am 1/10 until the last team finishes the race (evening of 1/13). She will work alongside myself or another Alaska-licensed vet who is part of the race team the entire time.
