Complete Care Animal Hospital, OH

Description of Elective Experience

We are an AAHA practice with 1.5 DVM's that the student will be able to shadow and consult with. This will be a fully immersive experience and that student will round with a DVM on each case and surgery. The student will be expected to actively participate in the selection of diagnostics and treatments of the patients as well as physical examinations.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

We are a fully staffed hospital with 6 RVT's to assist the student. We have a full line of in house diagnostics with digital radiology, ultrasound, digital dental radiographs, in house Idexx analyzers, and capability for hospitalization of most cases. We have a full surgery suit with cautery, CO2 laser, complete monitoring that includes ECG, SPO2, ETCO2, Temp, BP, etc. We are a progressive practice with digital monitoring using VetRadar and our team.  We do much of our own in house cytology and have video otoscopes.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

M-F 8 am - 6 pm with 1 hour lunch while the student is here. We have a full team of RVT's and 1.5 DVM's to support the student. They will be treated like a DVM when discussing cases that includes the  initial work up, treatment and overall diagnosis.
