Description of Elective Experience

 Train under the supervision of our experienced veterinarians, utilizing a planned program to ensure you get the most from your experience with us including an opportunity to perform procedures and surgeries and run rooms.

Learn our spectrum of care approach while meeting quality standards - because all pet families should have access to quality care. Keeping Pets & People Together Fund We created an in-house fund to help families cover unexpected veterinary medical costs to prevent economic euthanasia or surrender to shelters. 

We will cover the following areas:

  • Preventative care medicine
  • Dermatology
  • Imaging Diagnostics (Radiology, Ultrasound, etc.)
  • Dentistry
  • Ophthalmology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Soft-tissue Surgery
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.

Students will work with 3 different veterinarians and our support team of registered veterinary technicians and assistants and our practice manager. 

 Learning Tools: Ultrasound, digital dental radiographs, digital radiographs, laser, acupuncture, a paper-lite system are among the resources we utilize .

 

 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

We offer four 10 hour days or five 8 hour days Monday-Friday for an externship.

Students will shadow in appointments and in surgery. Students will get to run rooms with support and perform certain procedures. Depending on surgical experience opportunities to perform surgery under supervision of our veterinarians is possible.
