Description of Elective Experience
  1. Client/patient intake with history, presenting problem - SOAP format
  2. Triage of patients
  3. Formulating list of rule outs and needed testing
  4. Instructing/performing/assisting with testing
  5. Interpretation of test results
  6. Treatment planning and implementation
  7. Communication of results, treatment plan with client
  8. Surgical planning and performance of surgery

CTAH is a full functioning hospital - In house diagnostics, radiology, ultrasound, dentistry, laser therapy and surgery.

5 LVTs, 3 VAs that work fluently across all aspects of the hospital.

 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?
  1. Students expected to work a 40 hours week (4 - 10 hour shifts with a 1 hour lunch break)
  2. The clinic is open Monday through Saturday and the days worked will be arranged to meet the 40 hour week
  3. The student will shadow the attending veterinarian at first and take the lead based on capabilities and knowledge
  4. Will support veterinarians and LVTs as needed for each case managed
