Description of Elective Experience

The goal of the externship is to provide students with a full understanding of the internship offered and to further explore a career in performance horse medicine, referral practice, and general practice.  Externs will be included in the daily routine of all veterinarians. Externs are also expected to be available evenings and weekends during their stay. Depending on the time of year the work load varies from few hospitalized cases to a full ICU!

Fully functional referral practice type hospital with nuclear scintigraphy, full lab, digital xray and ultrasound, standing MRI, surgical suite. 

Additional separate surgical facility off site

Rehabiliation center  

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?

Students are expected to be available during daily operation hours (8-5) as well as afterhours and weekends for treatments/emergencies

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info)

Housing is provided at the hospital. We have bedrooms with provided bedding, two bathrooms and a fully functional kitchen.
